A Guide to Playing the Violin

Many people have a desire to learn to play the violin. What you may not know is that it is really one of the more difficult instruments to learn how to play. It is also very rewarding once you get used to the techniques that you will be using. There are a lot of things that you will need to learn in the beginning, starting with the correct way to hold the instrument. You will also have to... Continue Reading

My 16 y.o. son had been taking lessons at A-Z Music, paying at the beginning of the month for the next month’s upcoming lessons. His teacher had missed a date in December, a missed lesson for which were never credited (though the “manager” Dave had repeatedly reassured us that he would contact the owner and make sure we were credited). Unfortunately, I trusted that the credit would be carried over and did not follow up on the incident. (I think it is pertinent to note that each subsequent time that the instructor missed a lesson, it was not credited to my son in our monthly statement and I had to point out that we were owed a lesson; the missed lesson was always “forgotten” by A-Z Music.)
On March 30th the instructor missed a lesson. A week after I had paid May’s statement, I pointed out that I was not credited with that missed lesson. Dave refused to reimburse me (actually, refused to reimburse my son's money) right then and there for the missed lesson, stating that it would be credited in June.
Tristan’s instructor then quit after the second week in May; we were then owed for the two previous missed lessons AND for two lessons in May for a total of $68.00.

We have called A-Z repeatedly only to be told we would be reimbursed at the end of June. It is now July 20th and Tristan has not seen a penny. The last time I called and asked for Tristan’s money I was constantly interrupted so that I could not finish my sentences and when I politely asked for the last name of the owner so that I could contact him directly, Dave summarily hung up on me and continued to hang up every time I tried to obtain the owner’s name. Needless to say the establishment is completely unprofessional and should be ashamed of taking money from a child. Not only are they stealing from children, my son complained to me about how the manager would fight with his children so loudly he could hear it though the music room door and that it upset him during his lessons. I myself had found him asleep at the register several times, but put this down to the unconvential music lifestyle. I should have put it down to a white trash gnome who cheats teenagers out of their money. If only a negative number of stars could be given....
